Your wedding day is a week away, here's what you should do!
1.Try on your wedding dress
Trying on your dress one week before the wedding allows you to ensure that it fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear for extended periods. If there are any minor adjustments needed, such as hemming or taking in a little, having a week's time provides the seamstress or tailor the opportunity to make these changes without rushing.
2.Break in your shoes
Breaking in your wedding shoes the week before your big day is crucial for comfort and confidence. This process allows you to adapt to the shoes' fit and prevent discomfort or blisters on your wedding day. By wearing them beforehand, you ensure you'll walk down the aisle and dance the night away with ease, without any distractions or discomfort
3.Pre -wedding beauty appointments
Pre-wedding beauty appointments are essential for looking your best on the big day, but it's crucial to follow some dos and don'ts a week before the wedding. Do get a haircut or trim for fresh locks, but avoid experimenting with a new hairstyle that you haven't tried before. Do get a manicure and pedicure for polished nails, but skip any overly trendy nail art that might clash with your wedding theme.
4.Clean your ring
Your wedding photographer will be capturing many photos of your rings. In fact its probably one of the first details that will be captured on your wedding day. You want to make sure its clean, so it sparkles and shines in your photos and on you.
5.Confirm Timeline
A well-structured timeline keeps all vendors, the wedding party, and guests on the same page, minimizing confusion and stress. It guarantees that every moment, from getting ready to the last dance, unfolds seamlessly, allowing you to fully enjoy your day without worrying about logistics.
6.Send Timeline to wedding party and vendors
For vendors, it ensures they're aware of crucial moments, setup times, and transitions, allowing them to deliver their services seamlessly. Sharing the timeline with the wedding party enables everyone to be in sync, reducing confusion and ensuring they're prepared for their roles.
7.Confirm seating arrangements
Confirming your seating arrangements a week before the wedding is essential to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for you and your guests. It allows you to accommodate any last-minute changes, dietary restrictions, or special requests.
8.Create a family photo list
You'll want to create a list of the different family groups you want your photographer to capture you with. I recommend keeping the list at a maximum of 10 groups. When creating your list, use your family members first names instead of sister, aunt etc. Having a list in advance will ensure a smooth family portrait session. I also recommend letting those family members know in advance that they will be a part of this moment and so giving then a time frame is also appropriate.
9.Practice your vows/speech
Practicing vows and speeches before the wedding day is crucial for a confident and heartfelt delivery. Rehearsing allows you to iron out any nerves, ensuring you speak clearly and express your emotions sincerely. It helps you maintain eye contact with your partner or the audience, enhancing the emotional impact. Practicing also prevents stumbling over words or forgetting important points, enabling you to convey your feelings and sentiments eloquently. Ultimately, rehearsal ensures that your vows and speeches are a beautiful, memorable tribute to your special day.
10.Check the weather forecast
Weather can greatly impact outdoor ceremonies, photoshoots, and guest comfort. Being informed early allows you to adjust plans, arrange for tents or indoor alternatives, and communicate changes to vendors and guests. It's a proactive step to ensure you have a solid backup plan in case of unexpected weather changes, minimizing stress and ensuring a seamless celebration regardless of the forecast.
11.Pack a wedding day emergency kit
I have a blog all about this, just click on the link for the full list.
12.Have a final chat with your wedding photographer
Now that you have finalised your timeline, checked the weather forecast, created your family portrait list, it's a good time to review any last minute changes with your wedding photographer. Remember you will be spending a lot of time on your wedding day with your photographer. It's imperative you are both on the same page and updated on any changes and last minute expectations.
13.Brief your maid of honor on wedding day responsibilities
Your maid of honor plays a significant role in supporting you throughout the planning process and on the big day. Clear communication ensures that she understands her tasks, such as assisting you getting dressed, holding your bouquet during the ceremony, bustling your wedding dress and so on. This ensures that she can fulfill her role effectively, allowing you to relax and enjoy your wedding, knowing that you have a reliable partner to lean on.
14.Make sure vendors are paid
By settling payments in advance, you eliminate the need to handle financial matters on your wedding day, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the celebration. It also prevents any last-minute confusion or disputes, ensuring that vendors are focused on delivering their services without interruption.
15.Plan a surprise for your fiancee
Thoughtful gifts and surprises add an extra layer of intimacy and excitement to your wedding day. They demonstrate your deep affection and remind your partner of the cherished moments you've shared. Such gestures create a heartwarming connection before you even exchange vows, making the day even more special and memorable for both of you.
